Your Style Guide on Business Casual Men’s Dress Code

Your Style Guide on Business Casual Men’s Dress Code

If you are going somewhere and are encouraged to dress business casual, like in workplaces, you may not be sure what that means. While a casual dress code may mean your favorite sweatshirt and a comfortable pair of pants, your business professional requires a suit and tie with dress shoes. Finding a medium of business casual seems daunting if you aren’t sure how to find the balance.

When dressing in business casual, think of wearing a deconstructed business professional outfit. This could look like you are dressed almost half business professional, so khakis, a sweater, or a polo would do. When dressing business casual, always opt for a nicer, elevated pair of pants and a nicer shirt.

Whether you want to wear a button down, a polo, a sweater, or a blazer, you can get creative with your business casual outfit. Business casual is a little more comfortable than business professional, meaning you don’t have to break out your nicest suit for the occasion. A tie is also not needed with this dress code.

When it comes to business casual attire, Western Rise has you covered. We make clothes for every situation and every man. Here are some of our favorite business casual pieces.

Evolution Pant

The Evolution Pant is a fan favorite for a reason. Our elevated take on the classic khaki pant is lightweight and breathable so you can wear them during any time of year and feel maximum comfort. They also wick away moisture, ultimately fighting pesky stains and odors that come with natural wear.

These pants are great because you can wear them for multiple occasions a week and they will still look and smell like new. They’re great for any situation; dressy enough for your business casual outing and sturdy enough to last an outdoor hike. The Evolution Pant allows you to minimize your closet, replacing the need for separate pants for separate events.

People rave about these pants because of their ability to last the test of time and dry quickly. By not giving odor-causing bacteria a wet environment to grow in, you are minimizing your chances of smelling like body odor later on.

For a business casual look, wear our Evolution Pant with a long-sleeve button-down shirt on top. If it is a bit colder out, throw a nice sweater to coordinate with your outfit and add some extra warmth. You can also incorporate one of your favorite ties, and finish the look for a pair of loafers or nice sneakers.

The Limitless Button Down

A button down is your classic option for a business casual event, so Western Rise created one that is even more comfortable. The Limitless Button Down is made from a blend of merino wool and polyester to create a durable, flexible shirt that holds its integrity while still feeling incredibly soft for a versatile, casual wardrobe that you can dress up.

Button downs are a staple piece in any man’s closet, so finding different fabrics or materials that you like to wear can be a great way to spice up your style. The cotton button down collared shirt can also be worn open with a t-shirt underneath for a more casual, layered look that fits everybody’s style.

If you want to spice up a button down, layer a leather jacket or any other jacket of your choice on top to show a bit more of your style.  You can also opt for a cardigan over your button-up and pair it with denim on casual Fridays, or choose dress pants for a meeting with the bosses.

The great thing about our take on the classic button down is that it can be layered for added warmth or just worn on its own. Much like the Evolution Pant, the Limitless Button Down also resists odors and moisture, so you can wear it day in and out without any natural scents being picked up.

"The Limitless Button Down is both the most comfortable dress shirt in my closet, and the most versatile," says Dave Bowden, founder of the men's style website Irreverent Gent.

"I love it because I can wear it tucked in under a blazer at the office, then untuck it and throw on a bomber or a leather jacket when I'm heading out for drinks in the evening."

AT Pant

The AT Pant is another great business casual trousers option that is extra durable, so it can double as work pants for someone whose work requires a lot of physical activity. The AT Pant was designed to replace your favorite pair of jeans, or your date night pants, really they can be worn in place of any style of pants you were going for, whether it be men’s business casual style or formal attire.

Wear these pants with the button down and a blazer to dress them up or with a casual t-shirt for a more relaxed look. Seriously, these pants can work for whatever occasion.

These pants have optimal levels of stretch and wick away moisture from the surface to maintain their natural state at all times. They are five times stronger than regular jeans material and have ample storage including a phone pocket and pockets with zippers.

Great for work, travel, golf, hiking, and everything in between, the AT Pant can be worn for any activity with confidence, from a casual workplace to a business lunch.

StrongCore Merino Hoodie Sweater

For a nice layering piece for your business casual outfit, our StrongCore Merino Hoodie Sweater is great for layering over your button down and under a jacket when it is colder outside. It can also be worn on its own as an elevated, yet comfortable take on the hooded sweatshirt, and pairs well with boots.

Western Rise chooses premium quality fabrics like Merino wool that make your clothing feel luxurious while keeping up with fashion trends. Merino wool is a unique fabric that is comparable to cashmere, but wicks away moisture and regulates your temperature more consistently. The fabric is thinner than a strand of human hair but has a natural crimp at the end that traps air inside the fabric to regulate your body temperature.

This way, you are getting the warm, soft feeling that wool will give you without holding onto moisture or causing you to overheat. It is one of the most versatile fabrics in the world, so you should want all of your clothes to be made with Merino wool.

Luckily, Western Rise has great options made with that amazing wool to complete your business casual look

StrongCore Merino Socks

You want to feel confident from head to toe when it comes to dressing for any occasion. The best way to do so is to make sure all of your clothes are going to keep you feeling comfortable throughout the day. It is hard to feel comfortable in your outfit if your socks are itchy or hold onto moisture for long periods of time.

As we’ve mentioned, Merino wool is a great fabric to regulate your body temperature, so you won’t have to risk overheating when you purchase wool socks. With Merino wool, the crimps at the end help push moisture to the surface and evaporate quicker than regular cotton or wool socks would. So, if you get your socks wet and they are made of Merino wool, they will dry super fast and feel like nothing ever happened.

They are available in a crew cut and low cut, so you have options depending on the shoes and pants you are wearing that day. Either way, you are facing maximum comfort overall by investing in these amazing socks.

Merino wool socks are also super soft, as the fabric itself has been compared to the likes of cashmere. Such luxury on your feet will leave you feeling confident and ready for your business casual outfit.

Western Rise Can Help

It also means you won’t have to go shopping for specific occasions as often because our clothes can last through any situation.

If you have to dress business casual, remember that a pair of khakis and a sweater are always a safe option. By shopping at Western Rise, you can be confident that you have the right clothes for your dress codes at any moment.
