While designing our 2016 collection, we kept a keen focus on daily versatility. By utilizing performance fabrics in clean, classic profiles we set out to create pieces that could be worn in all mountain scenarios—from high country to town. Garments that all of our friends, Kelly and I would be proud to live in.
The first piece that I’d like to introduce you to is the Buckhorn Snap Shirt.
Using the profile of a time-honored western-style shirt as our canvas, we put a 21st century mountain spin on the classic. Not your father’s threads, this is everything we think a western shirt should be for mountain life today.
The Buckhorn Snap Shirt is built to be the perfect shirt for the mountains.
When we designed this shirt we sought the ultimate balance of looks, comfort and performance. To begin, we chose a soft, natural hand-polyester and created a custom gingham weave.
We then partnered with Nanotex to create a next-generation water-repellency treatment.
This hydrophobic nano-treatment coats the fabric on a molecular level, enabling it to resist and repel water, sweat, dirt/mud, wrinkles, beer—you name it, we’ve put it through the wringer! Nanotex also strengthens the yarn’s construction, while at the same time allows the fabric to retain its softness, breathe naturally and dry faster.
In order to update the shirt for an active mountain lifestyle, we slightly slimmed the cut for layering and articulated the sleeves for a higher range of motion.
This articulation allows for casting, climbing and biking without causing the shirt to rise above the beltline. We also cut the cuffs to allow for more thumb movement and added additional sun protection for the back of the hand.
We placed reflective details under the cuffs and collar, for that walk back to the truck after fishing the late-evening hatch or nighttime bike ride home from the in-town bar.
And we hid laser-cut venting under the sleeves for even more breathability, a zipper pocket under the flap of the right chest pocket for safe keeping of essentials and a lanyard in the left chest pocket for keys or nippers.
Throw the Buckhorn on in the morning and wear it for wherever your mountain pursuits may take you.
Whether you are biking to the grocery store, headed out for a Bridal Veil Falls hike with the pup, catching the evening caddis hatch on the San Miguel, or hitting Telluride Brewing Company with friends, the Buckhorn Snap Shirt has you covered.
