This item should have stretch added for comfort similar to the Arcteryx atom line. I did however like the double zip.
Hello Allen, Thanks for your feedback at Western Rise. As per checking, Airloft Jacket does have a 2-way stretch however we do understand that it didn't quite work out for you. That being said, no worries, we have relayed this feedback to our Design Team since we do create products that closely match our customer preferences. I do hope this helps and let us know if there's anything else we can help you with. Thanks for your support. Best,
Loving this jacket is easy. It's warm, light, water resistant, and looks awesome. It's the full package!
I get cold pretty easily. While living in the north east US, I have amassed a large collection of jackets for all types of environments and uses. The holy grail of jackets is one that keeps you warm in colder tempts but does not over heat you in warmer temps. The AirLoft hooded jacket comes very close to this. In addition, it is very light, soft and comfortable. However, you are trading breath ability for wind protection so it is not ideal for chasing summits. I would happily use it for outdoor adventures if frigid winds are not a factor but it is much better suited for urban environments where it's clean design looks most at home. I got this jacket as an alternative to the commonly seen packable down jacket for traveling. As good as the Micro Puff and Ghost Whisper jackets are, I did not like the look of them, especially when all wrinkled. The AirLoft looks fantastic compared to those and resists wrinkles very nicely. The trade off is that it does not pack down to the size of a soda can. I do have a couple of nitpicks. First is my new jacket came from Western Rise with a distinct scent to it. I have never received a new garment that had any scent on it. It is a sweet smell which reminds me of detergent or fabric softener and does not come off in the wash (so far). It's not intolerable but it is very noticeable. The second nitpick has to do with the interior breast pocket. The pocket itself is too shallow in my opinion. I would like to keep my phone (or anything else) in there and not have to zip it up. When I tried doing this, a slight bump to the pocket sent my phone tumbling out. Luckily the jacket was zipped and I caught it under the jacket. Why don't I want to zip up the pocket? Because the zipper pull is small and hard to locate, the zipper itself is small and tends to snag on the surrounding material and the zipper does not glide well, which is made more difficult to pull by the stretchy surrounding material. Similar zippers on the side packets don't have this issue. It would also be nice to have another interior pocket on the other side of the jacket. No jacket is perfect and the nitpicks are not deal breakers for me. I am still getting to know the jacket over the winter but it keeps surprising me how warm it is given its weight and thickness. The price seemed a little high at first but given it's performance, it is justified.
Hello An Le. Thanks for reaching out and sending along your feedback! Great to hear that your Airloft Hooded Jacket is working out "mostly" well for you. Sorry to hear that the jacket arrived with a smell. Our factory doe sometimes pre-wash these jackets prior too them leaving the facility, but generally they do use scent free soap and I do apologize if this was not the case with your jacket. That said, the smell should fade after a few wears/washes. As for the internal pocket, sorry to hear that you are having some trouble with the zipper pull and utilizing that pocket. I will be sure to pass your feedback along to our design team. That said you shoudl be able to add your own zipper pull to the inside zipper of the jacket if you would like. The zipper is set-up to take a string or fabric pull, and that could help to alleviate the issues you are having. I hope this info. is helpful and please feel free to reach out if you do have any other feedback, questions, or if there is anything else we can help you with.
Love the jacket! The insulation is incredibly light but effective. The quality and construction are top notch. Only minor issue is the sleeves - they roll/bunch quite easily on the wrists which is a bit annoying. If there was some elastic to prevent that at, would be the perfect jacket!
