What’s cold? For me, I think it’s 7 degrees Fahrenheit and a few snapped Scott rods in Alcova, Wyoming. It’s Carmex wedged in between rod guides to allow a cast. This early December fly fishing hunt was a test of our comfort, equipment, and willingness to pursue the salmo trutta.

Based in Norman, Oklahoma, most of the crew consisted of college buddies from OU, and a good friend flying in from Hawaii. A mere 4,000 mile flight would never stand in the way of Andrew and his trout.

The Wyoming Department of Transportation shut down most major highways across the state on the day we left Oklahoma, but we saw sun in the forecast. Nothing could stop the young craving four days of something dangerous and stupid, even if it meant chains on the tires and 10 miles per hour.
